Resources to Safeguard You From the Next Cyberattack

In the last few months, our industry has seen an increase in cyberattacks. Whether you’re a small shop or large corporation, bad actors won’t discriminate. Look no further than some of the attacks that have made headlines with major companies in the last decade: Cisco in August 2022, Facebook in 2019 or Target in 2013.

So how can you stay prepared? It’s starts with acknowledging this kind of attack could happen to your company, and arming your employees with ample training and awareness. They’re the frontline of your systems and need to know when to spot suspicious activity.

While malware protection is a smart step for companies to employ, more commonly these types of attacks are done through social engineering and phishing attempts.

Social engineering is when bad actors identify victims and earn their trust through psychological manipulation, revealing sensitive information or weak points in the system. Think of a simple password reset email — if it looks just official enough and the victim clicks to provide that sensitive information, the bad actor has found a way in.
